What You’ll Be Doing?
As a Driver Operations Team Manager, you’ll be at the heart of our operations, ensuring smooth, efficient processes while upholding our reputation for exceptional service. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing a team of Secondary/Primary (Class 1 & 2) Drivers, taking responsibility for all people management activities throughout the employee lifecycle to drive improved performance and build a positive and motivated team where everyone is engaged.
- Continuous Improvement: Use telematics and performance data to monitor safety trends and drive improvements across the fleet.
- Championing a Safety Culture: Positively influence behaviours and embed safety into daily operations, making it a core team value.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to Transport Operator Licence requirements, Tachograph and Working Time Directive regulations, and all Health, Safety & Environment legislation.
- Risk Management: Conduct regular safety audits, vehicle checks, and driver briefings to identify hazards and implement preventative measures.
- Training & Development: Deliver ongoing coaching and refresher training for drivers on safe driving practices, load security, and emergency procedures.
- Incident Response: Lead investigations into any accidents or near misses, ensuring corrective actions are taken and lessons learned are shared.
Working on a 5 over 7 rota, around 42 hours per week, starting between 0400 and 0900. Previous experience as a Team Manager or Key Operative with experience in managing teams, coaching, and mentoring. Knowledge of Tachograph and WTD regulations. Good working knowledge of SAP, specifically the ERP module. Understanding of Health, Safety, and Environment. Experience with Driver telematics systems. If you have your Transport Managers CPC that would be beneficial (but not essential).

With two bread plants, we produce a variety of products and are the sole producer of Milk Roll for the UK; in total we produce just under a million units weekly. Our distribution teams deliver 1 million products per week to over 1,000 customers daily, covering 35,000 km per week and in 2022 we celebrated our 25th anniversary.
