The Student Placement IT Specialist role offers the opportunity to gain practical experience within a business-facing IT Applications team. Designed for future graduates, the placement allows you to apply your academic learning in a real-world business environment while developing a solid understanding of how IT supports a large, operational organisation. You'll work closely with members of the IT team to support the maintenance and improvement of the company's IT application landscape. This includes gaining hands-on experience with live systems and exposure to a range of IT functions across the wider department.
The role provides broad experience within a fast-paced IT environment, where you'll contribute to day-to-day activities while learning established IT processes, tools and ways of working. With support from experienced colleagues, you'll build practical skills, industry knowledge and confidence to support a successful future career in IT. The Role
- Continuous Improvement: Support the identification and delivery of improvements in how IT applications are used, helping to maximise the value they bring to the business.
- Business Analysis: Assist in gathering and documenting functional and technical requirements, applying business analysis techniques to support technology change.
- End User Training: Help ensure end users are confident and capable by supporting the creation of training materials and clear, practical documentation.
- IT Application Support: Provide day-to-day support to end users by handling requests and incidents, following standard operating procedures and best practice.
- Project Delivery: Support IT projects by assisting with coordination, documentation and delivery activities alongside the wider IT team.
Essential Ingredients
- Currently enrolled in a degree program in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of networking, hardware, and software.
