Overview
As Engineering Team Lead, you will steer the plant’s maintenance and continuous improvement program to boost bakery efficiency while upholding safety and quality standards. You’ll lead and develop the engineering team, manage site projects, and ensure compliance with food safety and HSE regulations. The role sits at the heart of operations, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver reliable, safe, and cost‑aware plant performance. Responsibilities
- Develop and manage a maintenance and improvement programme to enhance bakery efficiency
- Lead site-based projects, ensuring smooth trials and rapid issue resolution
- Monitor compliance with food safety legislation and take timely corrective actions
- Ensure health & safety compliance and a safe working environment
- Recruit, motivate and develop the engineering team to meet targets
- Identify and implement energy management and environmental standards
- Develop revenue and capital budgets and manage expenditure to targets
Key requirements
- Food & Drink Advanced Engineering L5 Apprenticeship or equivalent / HNC or C&G Electrical Electronic / or Mechanical qualifications; I Eng Standard Professional Accreditation
- Collaboration and team working skills

- Knowledge of bread making process, plant & technology
- Knowledge of HR policies and employment law
- Management experience in FMCG
- H&S/Food Safety systems & legislation knowledge e.g. IOSH
