Overview
In this Asset Care Lead role, you will guide a 6-person day-based engineering team in a bakery setting, performing hands-on mechanical and electrical maintenance while driving the Asset Care Strategy. You’ll coordinate with senior engineering leadership to improve reliability within a highly automated facility and ensure safe, compliant operations. The position blends technical maintenance with people leadership in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, backed by a strong pension and bonus package.

Responsibilities
- Lead a team of 6 day-based engineers and oversee their workload
- Perform ~70% hands-on mechanical and electrical maintenance
- Plan and coordinate planned vs reactive maintenance with the PPM Co-ordinator
- Drive reliability improvements and support the Asset Care Strategy
- Ensure safety, quality, and food safety compliance across activities
- Manage contractor activity and ensure effective handovers between day and shift teams
- Develop training and development plans; conduct performance reviews
- Plan shutdown maintenance, ensuring parts availability and timely execution
Key requirements
- Experienced in electrical and mechanical maintenance
- People management experience
- FMCG/manufacturing environment experience preferred
- H&S/food safety knowledge (e.g., IOSH)
- Structured engineering training (apprenticeship/HNC/degree or equivalent)
- IT skills including SAP and Microsoft Office
- Strong communication and relationship-building abilities
