Waracle are looking for a DevOps Engineer for an exciting new role joining our world-class digital technology consultancy and home to a diverse, smart, curious and ambitious community of specialists in technology-driven transformation. This is a hybrid role working from any of our Scotland offices (Edinburgh, Glasgow or Dundee) but also involves travel to other offices when required.

As a mid-level DevOps Engineer you will play a crucial role in building, maintaining, and optimising cloud infrastructure and deployment processes, ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of applications. You will work collaboratively with development teams and engage with clients to understand their needs and deliver effective DevOps solutions.

You’ll be expected to:

  • Independently gather and comprehend client DevOps requirements, translating technical aspects into clear and concise language.
  • Present technical DevOps solutions effectively to clients, offering relevant insights and options.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in setting up, configuring and integrating various DevOps tools within the toolchain, and develop automation scripts for deployment and infrastructure management.
  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines, automating integration and deployment processes using relevant tools.
  • Configure and manage infrastructure components using automation tools and monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimisations for improved resource utilisation.
  • Implement security tools and practices, including vulnerability scanning and static code analysis.
  • Communicate effectively with development teams to understand their requirements and align DevOps processes.
  • Configure and maintain monitoring systems for log aggregation and lead incident response for known issues, following established protocols and driving improvements.
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation for system configurations and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in designing, deploying, and managing infrastructure and applications on both AWS and Azure cloud platforms.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Bicep, CloudFormation, etc.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools for building and managing automated continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with containerisation tools and platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes, EKS, AKS, etc.
  • Experienced in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, Powershell or similar.
  • Skilled in monitoring/logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Azure Monitor).
  • Jira administration skills, including workflow and integration management.
  • Proactive individual who actively seeks to expand knowledge and keep up with industry trends.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to understand complex requirements and offer comprehensive solutions.
