Wansdyke School and Acorn Education Trust are seeking to appoint an inspirational and driven Deputy Headteacher to join its team of senior leaders, and provide support in leading this inclusive and successful school, with effect from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for a knowledgeable teacher who is an existing or aspiring senior leader looking to build on the many established strengths of this vibrant school, which encourages all children to succeed and achieve their fullest potential.
Educating children between the ages of 4 and 11, we are located in the market town of Devizes, Wiltshire. We are proud to have very incredible children, who show exceptional behaviour and attitude to learning. We have a supportive parent body and a 28 place Complex Needs Resource Base, which supports children with additional needs from across the county. Our passionate staff are committed to raising standards and achieving excellence and, in 2021, we retained our ‘Good’ Ofsted rating and were praised for providing a purposeful and engaging curriculum, which allows pupils to flourish personally and academically.
The successful candidate will be expected to support the headteacher in leading enthusiastic and dedicated staff towards further enhancement of the school’s offer. We will appoint the candidate that will best fit the team and the needs of the school.
We are looking for someone who:
- The drive, vision and ambition to achieve excellence for all our pupils;
- An excellent understanding of teaching and learning;
- Previous leadership experience in a primary setting;
- The ability to challenge, inspire and motivate colleagues;
- A willingness to lead on aspects of whole school development (in line with skill set and experience);
- An understanding of the current educational climate;
- A desire to work within the Multi Academy Trust structure.
