The WANO of 2025 to 2030 and beyond is a highly collaborative partner with its members, focused on helping the growing nuclear fleet attain and sustain excellent performance. It serves its primary mission to maximise the safety and reliability of nuclear power plants worldwide, independent of geo-political and national boundaries. Overcoming economic, political, cultural, communication and technical differences, WANO performs as an internal industry community network for open and trusted exchange of information, experience, and knowledge between nuclear operators. Successful applicants will play an active part in supporting this project and improving nuclear safety worldwide.
The WANO London Office is pleased to offer a senior executive opportunity to join our organisation as Peer Review Director on a two-year secondment basis. This role is ideally suited to an experienced nuclear leader with a strong background in peer review, operational performance, and international collaboration, who is passionate about driving excellence across the global nuclear industry.
Responsibilities
- Set the strategic direction for peer review services, ensuring alignment with WANO’s operating model and future priorities.
- Provide global oversight of Peer Review Delivery Teams (specifically the Performance Assessment Delivery Team), ensuring consistency, quality, and value across all Regional Centres.
- Develop and maintain programme governance and guidelines, ensuring peer review processes remain effective and fit for purpose.
- Act as a key communication link between Regional Centres, senior leadership, and the Governing Board.
- Monitor industry performance and peer review outcomes, driving continuous improvement across WANO members.
- Lead WANO’s Emergency Response Support, ensuring readiness, coordination, and effective support during industry events.
- Collaborate with international organisations (e.g., IAEA and others) to share knowledge and align best practices.
- Provide strategic advice and analysis to the CEO, Governing Board, and Executive Leadership Team, and contribute to London Leadership Team strategy and governance.
- Travel internationally to represent WANO and support peer review and leadership activities.
Requirements
