Overview: The WANO of 2025 to 2030 and beyond is a highly collaborative partner with its members, focused on helping the growing nuclear fleet attain and sustain excellent performance. It serves its primary mission to maximise the safety and reliability of nuclear power plants worldwide, independent of geo-political and national boundaries. Overcoming economic, political, cultural, communication and technical differences, WANO performs as an internal industry community network for open and trusted exchange of information, experience, and knowledge between nuclear operators. Successful applicants will play an active part in supporting this project and improving nuclear safety worldwide.
The WANO London Office is pleased to offer an exceptional senior-level opportunity to join our London Leadership Team as Information Management & Systems Director on a two-year secondment. This is a pivotal role for an experienced technology leader who is passionate about digital transformation, data governance, and enabling organisational excellence on a global scale.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the full spectrum of WANO's information systems, ensuring they are robust, secure, and aligned with strategic goals.
- Provide trusted guidance to the CEO, Governing Board, and Executive Leadership Team, while leading a multifunctional global team to deliver innovative, high-quality technology solutions across WANO.
- Provide strategic vision and leadership for all information systems, developing a comprehensive IT and information management strategy aligned with organisational goals.
- Lead and mentor global IM&S teams across projects, development, infrastructure, cloud services, cybersecurity, and data management.
- Collaborate internationally with Regional Centres to ensure alignment on data governance, cybersecurity, and technology solutions.
- Drive digital transformation, ensuring consistency, maintainability, and optimisation of systems, applications, and technical standards.
- Develop and enforce policies for data governance, compliance, and information security—ensuring adherence to regulations such as GDPR.
- Oversee cybersecurity and risk management, ensuring strong controls for data protection, incident management, and disaster recovery.
- Lead budget planning and resource allocation, aligning investments with strategic priorities and organisational growth.
- Enhance global information system availability, accessibility, and functionality for members, staff, and stakeholders.
Location and Travel: This position is based in the WANO London Office, with international travel required.
