Wandahome, Knottingley is one of the country's leading retailers of leisure touring caravans. Established for over 70 years, it is a family run business selling new and used caravans and has an NCC Approved workshop along with a large awnings and accessories shop. The workshop and showroom have recently undergone a major refurbishment and the workshop now has 6 large ramps in a high tech workshop.
We are looking for a reliable and self‑motivated Workshop Technician to join our busy workshop – servicing, repairs and warranty department.
Responsibilities
- Pre‑delivery inspect (PDI) caravans, new and used prior to customer collection – checking the full caravan for function including electrics, gas, all appliances, water etc.
- Perform annual servicing and habitational checks on caravans including fault finding and repairs to electrical, plumbing, heating and appliances.
- Carry out warranty diagnosis and repair works.
- Bodywork repairs such as removing damaged panels, repairing damaged panels or components and refitting new or repaired panels.
- Re‑sealing caravans and performing damp repairs.
- Fit accessories such as motor movers, solar panels, TV brackets, bike racks and additional plug sockets or USBs.
- Wood work such as internal repairs to the caravan.
- Assist in moving caravans around the site, into the showroom, workshop and the cleaning bay.
- Assist in keeping the workshop clean, tidy and up to health and safety standards.
- Assist in training new employees where applicable once established in the company.
Qualifications & Experience
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a busy team environment.
- Reliable, positive attitude, self‑initiative and excellent attention to detail.
- Ideally industry qualifications or a good practical, multi‑skilled background with experience in motor trade, engineering, plumbing, carpentry or electronics. These skills can be adapted within our workshop environment to the role.
- Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous; on‑the‑job training will be provided and opportunities to gain industry qualifications are available.
Working Hours
- 5 days a week, Monday to Friday.
- Summer Working Hours (March to October): Monday to Thursday: 8:30am‑6:00pm, Friday: 8:30am‑5:00pm.
- Winter Working Hours (October to March): 9:00am‑5:00pm.
- Potential Saturday morning overtime may be available.
Salary
Initial salary offered will be dependent on experience.
