Reporting To: Senior Backend Developer / CTO

Role Purpose

Wanda is looking for a Junior Full Stack Developer with a frontend focus to help build our next generation healthcare platform. This role is ideal for someone with around 2–4 years of commercial development experience who enjoys building user interfaces, wants to grow their React and React Native skills, and is interested in becoming a well-rounded full stack developer. You do not need to know every tool already. We are looking for someone thoughtful, motivated, collaborative, and excited to learn while helping deliver software used in real healthcare programmes.

What You’ll Work On

  • Build web application features using React
  • Support mobile application development using React Native
  • Turn Figma designs, user flows and acceptance criteria into working application features
  • Implement screens, forms, validation behaviours, state handling and API integrations
  • Work with backend APIs using OpenAPI/Swagger documentation
  • Write frontend tests, component tests and integration checks where appropriate
  • Support light backend/API work where useful and under guidance
  • Learn accessibility, secure development and quality practices suitable for healthcare technology

What We’re Looking For

  • Around 2–4 years of commercial software development experience
  • Some experience with React
  • Familiarity with JavaScript, HTML and CSS
  • Basic understanding of APIs and how frontend applications connect to backend services
  • Experience using AI coding tools responsibly to help with implementation, testing, debugging and documentation
  • Awareness of automated testing and willingness to write tests
  • Interest in React Native, mobile development and full stack engineering
  • Willingness to learn backend concepts such as Python APIs, data architecture and data access patterns

Helpful, But Not Required

  • React Native experience
  • TypeScript experience
  • Experience working with Figma designs
  • MUI or other component library experience
  • Python, FastAPI or API development exposure

Personal Attributes

  • Curious and motivated to learn
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Practical problem solver
  • Comfortable asking questions early
  • Open to feedback and code review
  • Clear and thoughtful communicator
  • Works well in a small team
  • Cares about usability, accessibility and quality
  • Willing to use AI tools, but does not blindly trust their output
  • Interested in building software that has real-world impact

Success in This Role Looks Like

  • You deliver well-defined frontend tasks reliably with coaching support
  • You translate designs into clean, usable and maintainable UI
  • You ask good questions when designs, requirements or API behaviours are unclear
  • You contribute to test coverage and release confidence
  • You become increasingly confident with React, React Native, APIs and full stack delivery
  • You help the team move faster without compromising quality
  • You become increasingly competent and confident in using AI tools to accelerate delivery, including implementation, testing, debugging, documentation and learning, while still applying sound judgement and reviewing outputs carefully.
