Reporting To: Senior Backend Developer / CTO
Role Purpose: Wanda is looking for a Junior Full Stack Developer with a backend focus to help build our next generation healthcare platform. This role is ideal for someone with around 2–4 years of commercial development experience who enjoys backend development, wants to deepen their Python/API/database skills, and is keen to grow in a supportive, AI-augmented engineering team.
You do not need to be an expert in every technology listed. We are looking for someone curious, motivated, careful in their work, and excited to learn while contributing to real production software.
What You’ll Work On:
- Build and maintain backend features using Python and FastAPI
- Help implement API endpoints, validation logic, business rules and data access code
- Support integration work with third-party systems and internal services
- Support frontend/API integration where useful, including the opportunity to work with React or React Native
- Use AI coding tools responsibly to help with implementation, testing, debugging and documentation
- Implement secure development practices suitable for a healthcare technology environment
What We’re Looking For:
- Around 2–4 years of commercial software development experience
- Experience using AI-assisted tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude or similar
- Some experience with Python
- Basic understanding of REST APIs and how applications communicate with backend services
- Some experience with data schema, SQL or relational databases
- Familiarity with Git-based development, ideally GitHub
- Aware of automated testing and willingness to write tests
- Interest in cloud platforms, CI/CD, security and healthcare technology
- Willingness to work across the stack when needed
Helpful, But Not Required:
- FastAPI or similar API framework experience
- PostgreSQL experience
- React or React Native experience
- AWS exposure
- Docker or containerised development
