Walthamstow Academy opened its impressive new building in 2006 and since then has achieved excellent results at GCSE and A Level. In 2023, Progress 8 was 0.47, and at A-Level many students progress to Russell Group institutions. The school is full and oversubscribed on first choices. The Academy believes in the best in everyone, with high expectations and a focus on identifying barriers to success and providing necessary support to ensure students achieve. The Academy has a multicultural character and celebrates diversity. 90% of students come from minority ethnic groups, with 35% eligible for Pupil Premium. Almost 60% have a first language other than English and many have low levels of literacy on entry. Standards across the Academy are above national averages in most subjects. This is a casual contract from February 23 to March 6, May 7 to May 22 to June 18. Varying hours between Monday to Friday, earliest start 8:00am to latest finish 4:00pm.

We seek a reliable and committed Exam Invigilator to support the efficient running of the school’s examinations on a casual basis. This role suits someone seeking a flexible role and a friendly, professional team. You will have excellent organisation, administration and time management skills and will work closely with the Examinations Officer to ensure accuracy and exam integrity at all times. Good command of English, effective writing skills and good numeracy are essential.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Prepare examination rooms and materials in line with exam protocols.
  • Supervise students during examinations, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Maintain a calm, supportive and professional environment.
  • Assist with the collection, checking and secure return of examination materials.
  • Report any incidents or concerns to the Examinations Officer promptly and appropriately.
  • Assist students with special requirements, e.g., Read and Scribe.
