We are excited to announce that we are looking to appoint an ambitious, energetic and exceptional individual as a Learning Support Assistant within the new Resource Specialist Provision at Waltham Toll Bar Academy. The ‘Bridgehouse’ opening in September 2026 will cater for up to 12 children from across North East Lincolnshire who have identified Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and in receipt of an EHCP who need additional support within their mainstream education.
Responsibilities
- The Learning Support Assistants will work closely together and will play a key role, alongside the SENDCO and Lead Teacher of SEND, in collaborating with staff across the academy and colleagues in the Trust, local authority and external agencies to ensure a broad, balanced and specialist curriculum is provided for our children accessing the provision.
- They will create a nurturing and empathic approach, prioritising child‑centred relational strategies, and embed a culture where all students with additional and special educational needs and disabilities can access the curriculum and learn effectively.
- The successful candidate will work with the Principal, Vice Principal of Inclusion, SENDCO, staff team and supportive Trust, shaping the direction of travel of the new RSP (Resource Specialist Provision).
- During the first year, the Bridgehouse will offer 6 places and will increase up to 12 places to maximum capacity by the end of the first year.

- We are looking for an experienced learning support assistant who demonstrates a strong desire to support children who have often had negative experiences of education.
- Experience of working with children across key stages and with additional needs, including SEMH, is vital.
- A commitment to ensuring The Bridgehouse is fully inclusive and part of the academy is essential.
