Waltham Gateway Academy opened in September 2025. Currently, there are 40 children on roll; there will be approximately 65 in September 2026 and we will eventually provide for up to 210 pupils, from Reception to Year 6. The academy also includes a Resource Specialist Provision (RSP), catering for up to 12 children from across North East Lincolnshire who have identified Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENDCO to deliver a broad and balanced curriculum, including for children accessing the RSP.
  • Support children to develop their skills and confidence through adaptive, personalised teaching strategies.
  • Embed a culture where all students can access the curriculum and learn effectively, especially those with additional and special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Promote trauma‑awareness and relational learning, building strong, trusting relationships to create a safe learning environment.
  • Collaborate with staff across the Academy to support inclusive teaching and learning practices.

Qualifications

  • Experienced teaching assistant with a strong desire to develop all children.
  • Creative and adaptable, with experience across key stages highly desirable.
  • Commitment to ensuring the academy is fully inclusive.
  • Understanding and experience with trauma‑informed approaches is essential.

Safeguarding

Applicants will be required to apply for an Enhanced DBS disclosure, undergo social media checks and provide satisfactory references in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education legislation. The academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
