Position: Permanent RSP Teaching Assistant, full-time (32.5 hours per week, term time only).
Salary: LGAT 7 - £26,948 full-time equivalent. Actual salary: £20,237.95.
Overview: Waltham Gateway Academy, established September 2025, currently serves 40 children with an expected enrolment of 65 in September 2026, and a future capacity of up to 210 pupils from Reception to Year 6. The academy also includes a Resource Specialist Provision (RSP) catering for up to 12 children across North East Lincolnshire who have identified Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the RSP teacher and SENDCO to collaborate with academy staff and ensure a specialist curriculum is delivered.
- Support the teacher and colleagues in creating a nurturing and empathic approach, prioritising child-centred relational methods.
- Help embed ambitious expectations for all students with additional and special educational needs and disabilities, ensuring the curriculum is accessible for all.
- Champion trauma-awareness and relational learning principles, building strong, trusting relationships with children to create a safe learning environment.
- Apply creative and adaptable teaching strategies to meet the needs of children across key stages.
- Contribute to ongoing CPD and attend regular supervision sessions as part of the whole-school relational approach.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Experienced teaching assistant with a strong desire to help children who have negative educational experiences to develop skills and confidence.
- Experience working with children across key stages is desirable; experience with children with additional needs, including SEMH, is vital.
- Good knowledge and practical understanding of the SEND Code of Practice.
- Demonstrated specialist knowledge or training relevant to the position.
- Commitment to inclusivity and ensuring RSP is fully integrated within the academy.
