Waltham Gateway Academy opened in September 2025. There will be approximately 75 children on roll in September and we will eventually provide for up to 210 mainstream pupils, from Reception to Year 6. The academy also includes a Resource Specialist Provision (RSP), catering for up to 12 children from across North East Lincolnshire who have identified Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our teaching team at Waltham Gateway Academy. The role is for a 0.5 part-time KS2 teacher. The successful candidate will be an experienced classroom teacher or might be relatively new to the profession, who will be dynamic, creative and inspirational, ensuring all children receive an outstanding education. Crucially, the successful candidate will hold ambitious expectations for all students, including those with additional and special educational needs and disabilities and embed a culture where all can access the curriculum and learn effectively.
An ability to be creative and adaptable in their teaching is crucial. Experience of teaching across key stages is desirable and a deep knowledge of the core and wider curriculum is essential, including a good knowledge and understanding of teaching reading, writing and maths.
Waltham Gateway Academy will be a single form entry but currently has some mixed classes and some single year group classes. We will cater for children in classes up to and including Year 5. There will also be extensive opportunities for the candidate to develop their leadership experience through leading across subject areas and other aspects of the school, such as personal development and enrichment, depending on experience and ambition.
Experience of working with children with additional needs, including those with SEMH, is desirable and the candidate will have good knowledge and a practical understanding of the SEND code of practice. Pupils within the RSP are an integral part of the school community and will participate in some lessons in mainstream classes. It is therefore essential that the successful candidate champions our principles of trauma awareness and relational learning, building strong, trusting relationships with all of our children to create a safe learning environment.
A full package of on-going CPD is in place to support our staff team as part of the whole school relational approach. Collaboration is key to our development and the successful candidate would enjoy very close partnerships, working alongside the Principal and Assistant Principal as well as the Executive Principal and other colleagues within our Trust.
This is a unique and exciting opportunity to help shape the direction of travel of the new academies. Our ethos is one of an uncompromising drive to achieve the highest standards of outcomes and behaviour in a safe environment, which encourages every student to experience an exciting and creative climate for learning. We place a strong emphasis upon pastoral care and teachers will share the determination to offer the very best to our students so that they can thrive personally and academically.
The role will start in September 2026. Applications should be submitted via My New Term by 12 noon on Thursday 9th July 2026. The personal statement should include:
- Why you are interested in this role and your vision for the Academy
- The personal qualities and experience that you will bring to the role
- The contribution you can make to the continued success of the Trust
Candidates will be selected for interview and contacted by Monday 13th July 2026. Interviews will take place on Thursday 16th July 2026. Please contact the Principal, Mrs Lindsay Holness, for further details about the role and/or the new academies - enquiries@walthamgatewayacademy.co.uk.
