The school is seeking an experienced Behaviour Manager to coordinate behaviour support and contribute to the development of a calm, purposeful and respectful school environment.

The Role

The Behaviour Manager will work closely with senior leaders, Heads of Year, teachers, pupils and families.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring behaviour across the school.
  • Supporting the implementation of behaviour policies.
  • Managing behaviour incidents and appropriate follow-up.
  • Maintaining accurate behaviour records.
  • Identifying patterns and recurring concerns.
  • Supporting pupils with behaviour interventions.
  • Working with Heads of Year and pastoral leaders.
  • Communicating with parents and carers.
  • Supporting behaviour meetings.
  • Developing individual behaviour strategies where appropriate.
  • Monitoring pupil progress following interventions.
  • Supporting reintegration following sanctions or periods away from lessons.
  • Providing guidance to staff regarding behaviour procedures.
  • Supporting pupils to understand expectations and consequences.
  • Contributing to behaviour reviews.
  • Preparing behaviour information for senior leaders.
  • Supporting a consistent approach across the school.

Behaviour Intervention

The successful candidate will work with pupils who may require additional intervention.

This could include one-to-one meetings, behaviour plans, restorative conversations and regular monitoring.

The aim will be to help pupils understand the impact of their behaviour and develop strategies that enable them to engage positively with school.

The Behaviour Manager will need to balance clear expectations with a supportive approach.

Working With Staff

Consistency across the school will be important.

The Behaviour Manager will work with teachers and pastoral colleagues to ensure that behaviour procedures are understood and implemented appropriately.

This may involve:

  • Providing advice to staff.
  • Supporting behaviour-related meetings.
  • Reviewing incidents.
  • Identifying patterns.
  • Sharing relevant information.
  • Supporting intervention planning.
  • Contributing to staff development around behaviour procedures.

Working With Families

The successful candidate will communicate regularly with parents and carers.

This may involve discussing incidents, arranging meetings, explaining school procedures and sharing information regarding interventions.

You will need to communicate clearly and professionally, including when conversations are challenging.

  • Experience working with secondary-aged pupils.

  • Confidence communicating with parents.

  • A commitment to inclusion and pupil development.
  • Experience working with pupils with additional needs or complex behavioural requirements would be advantageous.
