Overview
We are seeking a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive primary school in Waltham Forest from September.
This role involves providing dedicated support to a pupil with additional learning needs, helping them access the curriculum, develop confidence and achieve their individual targets.
The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals to deliver personalised support throughout the school day.
The position would suit someone with experience supporting children with special educational needs who is patient, proactive and passionate about making a positive difference in a child’s education.
Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with SEND to access the curriculum and participate in learning activities.
- Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals to implement personalised support plans.
- Promote independence, encourage engagement and help create a positive learning environment.
- Monitor and report on pupil progress, adapting strategies as needed to meet targets.
- Support inclusion and positive behaviour in the classroom and throughout the school day.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Previous experience supporting children with SEND is desirable.
- Experience working within a primary school is advantageous.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Enhanced DBS Certificate with the Update Service.
- Right to work in the UK.
