The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Construction Manager to join the delivery team on a flagship science facility and headquarters development in Windlesham.

Reporting to the Project Lead, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of this major programme of works, overseeing construction activities while developing a comprehensive understanding of the wider scheme, project stakeholders and delivery strategy.

This position has been created with progression in mind, with a clear pathway towards stepping into a Project Manager or Project Lead role in the future.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Project Lead in the successful delivery of the wider project.
  • Manage and coordinate day‑to‑day construction activities across allocated areas of the scheme.
  • Provide leadership to site teams, subcontractors and supply chain partners.
  • Monitor programme performance and ensure project milestones are achieved.
  • Drive health, safety, quality and environmental standards across all construction activities.
  • Work closely with clients, consultants and project stakeholders to maintain strong working relationships.
  • Assist in project planning, logistics coordination and sequencing of works.
  • Support project reporting, risk management and progress reviews.
  • Contribute to commercial awareness and programme management activities.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the wider project with a view to assuming greater project leadership responsibilities over time.
  • Lead the future delivery of a standalone, high‑value building package.

About You

  • Proven experience in a Senior Construction Manager or Construction Manager role delivering complex construction projects.
  • Experience working on large‑scale commercial, healthcare, science, education, technical or high‑specification developments.
  • A desire to progress into a Project Manager or Project Lead position.
  • Strong leadership, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of construction methodologies, programme management and health and safety legislation.
  • The ability to manage multiple workstreams while maintaining high standards of quality and delivery.
  • A proactive, collaborative and solutions‑focused approach.
  • SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid qualifications.
  • Experience delivering science, research, laboratory or life‑sciences facilities would be highly advantageous, but is not essential.
  • Additional Requirements and Information
  • Due to the location of the project, a full UK driving licence would be advantageous.
  • A shuttle service operates between the site and the nearest railway station, providing an alternative travel option for those using public transport.
  • Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK, as visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
