The Role

We are looking for an experienced and commercially driven Quantity Surveyor to join our Science & Higher Education team. This role is ideal for a Surveyor with a strong background in change management, cost control, and contract administration within a main contracting environment.

Key Responsibilities

– Lead commercial management of construction projects.
– Manage and evaluate change events, ensuring robust cost forecasting and reporting.
– Prepare and review cost plans, tender documentation, and procurement strategies.
– Administer NEC and JCT contracts, including subcontractor procurement and payment processes.
– Collaborate closely with project teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure commercial and compliance objectives are met.
– Maintain detailed records of all project changes and ensure contractual obligations are fulfilled.
– Produce monthly valuations, manage risk and opportunity registers, and support project reporting.

About You

To be considered as a Quantity Surveyor, you will have:

– A minimum of five years’ experience in quantity surveying, ideally with a main contractor.
– Proven experience in managing change control on complex, high-value construction projects.
– Experience of working in the science/laboratory sector is desirable.
– Strong knowledge of NEC and JCT contract forms.
– Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
– A degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
– RICS membership or be working towards chartership is preferred.
