MORE ABOUT THE SERVICE AND THE ROLE
Barleyfield House is a respite residential care home supporting up to four adults at any one time, although occupancy may vary depending on respite bookings. The service supports adults aged 19 to 50+ with a range of needs, which can change depending on who is using the respite service. Individuals supported may have autism, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and complex needs, including epilepsy and mobility needs.
Due to the nature of respite care, Support Workers must be flexible, adaptable, and person-centred, as support needs may vary between individuals and placements. Support Workers at Barleyfield House are responsible for providing high-quality, compassionate care in a shared home environment, including providing personal care to ensure individuals are washed, clean, comfortable, and well looked after. They are expected to support with daily living tasks, including shopping, cooking meals, and maintaining a clean and homely environment.
The staff member should be confident to help plan/run activities and entertainment tailored to individual interests, by encouraging and supporting individuals to access the community where appropriate. They should have a desire to promote independence, choice, and dignity at all times and the willingness to learn, as they will be expected to administer medication safely following training and competency assessment. Maintaining accurate records and working in line with care plans and risk assessments is essential.
Support Workers will work as part of a supportive team to ensure Barleyfield House remains a safe, welcoming, and positive environment, providing high-quality respite care.
