About the Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lead Structural Engineer to combine deep technical expertise with strategic influence, leading complex engineering, testing and assurance projects that support safer, higher-performing and more sustainable buildings across the UK and internationally. You will provide technical leadership across structural engineering activities, oversee laboratory-based testing programmes, and act as a trusted technical authority for clients, internal teams and industry stakeholders.
Key Requirements
- You will be a Chartered Structural Engineer with strong technical capability, leadership experience and the confidence to manage complex structural engineering and testing programmes.
- You will ideally bring:
- Chartered Structural Engineer status
- Strong knowledge of BS and EN codes and standards
- Experience leading complex structural engineering, testing and assurance activities
- Strong understanding of static and dynamic structural behaviour
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, technicians and laboratory staff
- Ability to produce and review high-quality technical reports, proposals and client documentation
- Knowledge of UK construction methods, materials and building systems
- Experience in structural inspection, assessment and fire performance
- Exposure to structural fire design and assessment
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and FEA modelling
- Strong commercial awareness and client-facing communication skills
Role & Responsibilities
As Lead Structural Engineer, you will take responsibility for the delivery and development of high-quality structural engineering services, supporting technical excellence, safe delivery and continued growth within the Structural Technology team. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and managing structural engineering activities and technical services
- Overseeing projects to ensure compliance with relevant BS and EN standards
- Developing and interpreting structural test regimes, including static and dynamic behaviour
- Managing laboratory-based testing activities to ensure safe, robust and reliable outcomes
- Coordinating engineers, technicians and laboratory staff to deliver projects efficiently
- Producing and reviewing technical proposals, reports and client deliverables
- Supporting client engagement, business development and industry representation
- Contributing to structural inspection, assessment and fire performance activities
- Helping to grow the technical profile and commercial capability of the Structural Technology team
