About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Project Engineer to join their growing team and lead the successful delivery of mechanically biased building services for a major refurbishment project at a live, critical data centre near Barnsley. This 18-month project will commence in summer and offers the potential for long-term follow-on work. This is a key leadership role with responsibility for ensuring the project is delivered safely, efficiently, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience delivering mechanical installations in a construction environment
  • A track record of success in a senior project engineering or delivery-focused role
  • Experience on complex, high-value building services projects (up to £10m+)
  • An industry-recognised mechanical trade or professional qualification
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a wider site and delivery team
  • Strong commercial awareness and focus on client satisfaction

Role & Responsibilities

  • Champion a “Safety First” culture across all project operations
  • Drive early engagement and planning to enhance project outcomes and profitability
  • Review and align project scope with client expectations
  • Identify and manage risks and opportunities to ensure project success
  • Oversee procurement and engineering delivery in line with commercial targets
  • Provide regular, accurate progress updates to project and commercial stakeholders
  • Lead and manage subcontractors, ensuring high performance and compliance
  • Offer clear direction, support and motivation to the project team
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the client
  • Ensure a smooth and profitable project close-out
