Overview

An opportunity has arisen for a qualified Accountant or finalist to join the Financial Management team at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, taking the lead with one of our key Clinical Divisions and supporting the attainment of the Trust\'s financial performance.

The post holder will provide financial support and advice on behalf of the Divisional Business Accountant to a Division with a budget of circa £50-60m. The provision of support will involve dealing with complex, emotive and contentious issues. It will require the post holder to constrain managers to ensure financial targets are met. Financial support will include advising the managers and Directors on how to make the most effective use of finance and other resources to bring about increased efficiency and service improvement. The post holder will be key to developing commercial awareness throughout the clinical divisions and will understand the linkages between financial and other performance targets.

Working as a business partner to the Division to ensure value for money, appropriate financial control, and development of business cases.

Producing Monthly Management Accounts for the services they are supporting and presenting these positions at regular meetings.

Having challenging conversations to ensure efficiency targets are achieved.

Taking responsibility for management, development, training, and performance of the staff accountable to them.

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is an integrated Trust and the only provider of NHS acute care in Walsall, serving a population of 284,300, providing inpatient and outpatient services at the Manor Hospital as well as a wide range of services in the community. Walsall Manor houses the full range of district general hospital services under one roof. Financial governance and compliance

Ensure Divisions are fully aware of all aspects of financial control, probity and stewardship, including standing financial instructions, standing orders.

Ensure that the Division\'s financial records represent a true and fair view and meet financial timescales and requirements of the Trust\'s corporate reporting system, external statutory returns and accounts and accounting policies and legislation.
