Staff Nurse – Short Stay Medical Ward (Ward 29)

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our short stay medical ward within the Division of Medicine and Long-Term Conditions.

Job Summary

Responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality patient care, ensuring safety and comfort for all patients.
• Lead and manage a team within the ward, ensuring effective communication and team cohesion.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to provide comprehensive care plans.
• Actively contribute to service improvement and meet service needs.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation, writing clearly and legibly.
• Use venepuncture, cannulation and male catheterisation competently or be willing to receive training.

Qualifications & Experience

• Registered Nurse with NMC registration and post‑registration experience as a registered staff nurse.
• Must demonstrate knowledge of the role and responsibilities, health and safety, and clinical risk management.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Probable familiarity with teaching and assessing, and with clinical audit or benchmarking processes (desirable).
• Competence in venepuncture and cannulation, and in male catheterisation (or willingness to train).
• Awareness of cost‑effective use of resources (desirable).
