Walsall Educational Psychology Service is seeking to recruit a Senior Educational Psychologist to join and support the leadership of our values-driven service. Our practice and service development is grounded in the following values:

Successful candidates will join the existing senior leadership team to support our enthusiastic and creative team of specialist seniors, main grades and assistant psychologists and TEPs. We are seeking to appoint a Senior EP who will support transformational practice in response to the national SEND reforms and strengthen the capacity of the EPS to build creative, innovative, and psychologically driven solutions to support our communities, schools, families and young people.
As a senior EP, the successful candidate will contribute to the development of a framework for practice as part of our Experts at Hand offer, focusing on systemic and organisational change, whole school strategic support for inclusion, and our offer at the Targeted and Specialist tiers, through the creative application of psychology.
We are also seeking to recruit a candidate who can take a strategic lead in the following areas:
- Team development: Lead on the development of CPD activities, supervision systems and support the professional growth of service members.
- Service-link to University training providers: Lead the co-ordination of and oversee Trainee placements in Walsall working in collaboration with university course providers.
- Digital innovation: Develop and expand our creative use of digital tools to support professional practice and engagement with our schools and partners.
- Supervision: Contribute to the supervision and line management of service members.
About us: Walsall EPS plays a key role in delivering the LA’s SEND and Inclusion strategy. We have strong relationships with teams across Children’s Services including the Virtual School and Youth Justice, as well as with Health and Social Care. Walsall EPS delivers statutory work, critical incident support, and substantial LA projects, alongside our current traded services to schools, where demand for the service remains high.
We are a consultation-led service and have recently invested in refreshing our delivery model of consultation and are looking forward to further development and CPD in this area. The EPS provides central training offers to settings which include, ELSA, SCERTs, and EBSA guidance and training. We are also delivering LA commissioned projects focused on embedding inclusive practice, supporting transitions from primary to secondary school, and ensuring successful re-integration following exclusion.
We would be interested in hearing from qualified EPs who want to develop skills in leadership and management and have some experience of supervising, and in leading or supporting project work in their current roles.
