Responsibilities

  • To assist in all routine procedures within the Cardiology Department (to include ECG, Event recorder and 24hr ECG Holter Monitoring and 24hr Blood Pressure monitoring Hook-up and analysis).
  • To provide accurate technical reports on all procedures listed above.
  • To develop and maintain knowledge and clinical skills.
  • To undertake audit and research activities.
  • Understand the significance of the ECG traces recorded and initiate further action by senior cardiac physiology, nursing or medical staff as necessary.
  • Learn to identify and correct clinical and technical problems, which may lead to poor quality or misleading results.
  • Prepare patients and equipment for ambulatory monitoring, including coaching patients in the appropriate use of the equipment and patient diary.
  • Prepare patients for experience tolerance tests (depending on experience).
  • Retrieve data from ambulatory equipment, using the appropriate computing/telephonic/recording devices provided and then to check the quality of the data, editing where appropriate and preparing reports for printing.
  • It is the responsibility of the post holder to ensure that reports are presented for review/reporting in a timely fashion and to arrange reappointment of failed recordings.
  • To perform 12 lead ECG and ambulatory monitoring.
  • Supervise Other Clinics Where Support Is Required.
  • Set up and download of clinical equipment.
  • Oversee admin duties where required.
