Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK at the time of application. An AfC Band 3 role is available depending on experience. Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is an integrated Trust and the only provider of NHS acute care in Walsall, serving a population of 284,300. It provides inpatient and outpatient services at the Manor Hospital as well as a wide range of services in the community. The £170 million development was completed in 2010, and ongoing upgrades ensure the Trust now has state‑of‑the‑art facilities, including a Critical Care Unit, Neonatal Unit, Obstetric Theatre, and Integrated Assessment Unit. A new Urgent and Emergency Care Centre, opened in March 2023, has significantly improved emergency care facilities and capacity, providing almost 5,000 square metres of additional clinical space.

Key Responsibilities

  • To assist in all routine procedures within the Cardiology Department (to include ECG, event recorder and 24hr ECG Holter monitoring and 24hr blood pressure monitoring hook‑up and analysis).
  • To provide accurate technical reports on all procedures listed above.
  • To develop and maintain knowledge and clinical skills.
  • To undertake audit and research activities.
  • To perform 12‑lead ECG and ambulatory monitoring.

Additional Duties

  • Prepare patients and equipment for ambulatory monitoring, including coaching patients in the appropriate use of the equipment and patient diary.
  • Prepare patients for experience tolerance tests (depending on experience).
  • Retrieve data from ambulatory equipment, using the appropriate computing/telephonic/recording devices provided.
  • Check the quality of the data, edit where appropriate and prepare reports for printing.
  • It is the responsibility of the post holder to ensure that reports are presented for review/reporting in a timely fashion and to arrange reappointment of failed recordings.
  • Set up and download of clinical equipment.
  • Oversee admin duties where required.
  • Supervise other clinics where support is required.
