Opportunities available in six children’s homes in Walsall:

  • Casual posts with no guaranteed hours
  • Hours offered as required to meet the needs of the homes

You will be responsible for the direct care of children, offering high levels of engagement and aiming for positive outcomes.

Requires a Level 3 residential child care qualification or equivalent and experience within the residential sector.

Our homes can accommodate children up to 18 years of age. Applicants must be 21 years old or older due to Department for Education National Minimum Standards.

Walsall Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people in our care, and all staff must share this commitment.

Completion of an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check is a requirement for working with children. Applicants will need to declare any periods lived, studied or worked abroad and provide an Overseas Criminal Records Certificate (OCRC) or a Statement of Good Conduct (SOGC) if necessary.

This post is covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers. The post holder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and information in accurate spoken English.
