We are seeking to recruit a number of Band 5 Registered Nurses to join our Nurse Team in Walsall Healthcare's Emergency Department. Opportunities are available for candidates with experience in the Emergency Department setting or those who are willing to expand their portfolio. An extensive induction, orientation and personalised learning plan will be defined and provided throughout your time in ED. It is an exciting opportunity to join the Emergency Department Nursing Team as we expand the nursing workforce and support our team with progression through your Nursing career in Emergency Care.

The applicant will use clinical skills, knowledge and judgement to lead a workforce across the Emergency Department to provide safe, responsive and effective care to patients.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a nursing team in a busy Emergency Department to deliver safe, responsive and effective patient care.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, initiative and drive; be capable of coordinating activities within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Participate in and support audits and service developments within the ED.
  • Engage in education and development activities as part of the ED education framework and learning plan.
  • Support new and ongoing education for staff, including participation in the delivery of education programmes for both new and substantive staff.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Band 5 Registered Nurse.
  • Emergency Department experience is preferred but not essential; full support and development will be provided via induction and a personalised learning plan.
  • Willingness to develop Emergency Care skills and contribute to the ED team.
  • Ability to work in a demanding environment and contribute to high standards of patient care.
Education and Development

The department offers a range of learning environments, including courses to increase clinical skills and knowledge such as ILS, PILS, TILS, ALS, EPLS, TNCC, and in-house opportunities. Post-registration courses via Wolverhampton University in Emergency care of the child and mentorship are available. We encourage department link nurses and the development of departmental champions to support specialist practice within the team.

It provides inpatient and outpatient services at the Manor Hospital, as well as a wide range of community services. Applicants will join the Emergency Department as the new Education Framework commences. New posts are being invested in with Practice Development roles expanding to support the delivery of our education programme for both new and substantive staff. For newly qualified staff, this provides the opportunity to develop nursing skills with a focus on Emergency Care. The service is committed to continuing to improve quality of care through investment in people and patients in ED. The department aims to recruit new Nurses keen to work within a Multi-Disciplinary Team to support audits and service developments, with leadership responsibilities including ensuring staff are up to date with Appraisals and Training.
