As an experienced leader with sound judgement and a passion for making a difference, this is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the lives of children in care by upholding the highest standards in fostering practice. As Foster Panel Chair, you will lead critical discussions, guide robust decision-making, and help secure safe, supportive futures for vulnerable children.
In this role, you will chair fostering panel meetings, ensuring that all cases are considered rigorously, fairly, and in line with fostering regulations, statutory guidance, and council policies. You will play a key role in maintaining high safeguarding standards, promoting quality care, and ensuring all decisions are evidence-based and centred on the needs of children.

Responsibilities:
- Chair fostering panel meetings, ensuring effective participation and professional conduct.
- Prepare thoroughly for panels by reviewing complex documentation, identifying key issues, and liaising with the Panel Adviser.
- Lead balanced and well-informed discussions that result in clear, evidence-based recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with fostering regulations, safeguarding standards, and council policies.
- Promote a culture of respect, inclusion, and anti-discriminatory practice within panel processes.
- Oversee and approve panel minutes, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
- Liaise with senior managers and the Agency Decision Maker to support decision-making processes.
- Contribute to the recruitment, development, and performance review of panel members.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all panel information and discussions.
- Support the continuous improvement of fostering services, including contributing to policy development and annual reports.
