The post holder will work with partners through the Walsall Together Partnership and cultural compact to develop a creative health system model for effective connections between health, social care and the cultural sector. Key to this is to improve partners' understanding about the cultural sector's contribution at a neighbourhood, place and system level.

Using national evidence and knowledge from local sources, an assessment of population needs to facilitate the implementation of evidence-based creative health interventions will be undertaken with partners. You will support the health and culture partnerships with convening and facilitating local creative health networks as needed.

The postholder will focus on relationship-building between cultural organisations, primary care networks, social prescribers, the NHS Trusts and the Council, and assist in organising system-wide or borough-level meetings, workshops and communities of practice. You will develop positive relationships with VCSE, cultural, health and social care partners and work closely with borough-level partners to ensure creative health supports local neighbourhood priorities (e.g. frailty, mental health, long term conditions across the life course).

  • Provide strategic leadership, specialist advice, guidance and training on creative health.
  • Facilitate the development of creative health strategies and programmes within the Walsall Together system.
  • Map local Creative Health provision, networks and assets, identifying gaps and opportunities to strengthen neighbourhood health and personalised care.
  • Work with colleagues to identify funding and resources.
  • Engage in the community of practice programme being coordinated by NCCH for Creative Health Leads within health and care systems.
  • Contribute to the development of a Creative Health Maturity Framework for systems.
  • Contribute to the iterative evaluation of the Creative Health Leads programme, using systems thinking to improve the effectiveness of the programme.
