We are expanding our Children’s Commissioning Team and have an exciting opportunity for a Commissioning Officer to support the delivery of high-quality services. This role is ideal for someone with strong organisational skills, an eye for detail, and a passion for improving outcomes in the community.

Areas of Focus:

  • The Children’s Commissioning Team portfolio supports Early Intervention and Communities, Targeted Family Help and Care, Lifelong Learning, Inclusion, Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Our current portfolio of work includes placements and services for Children in Our Care, Alternative Provision, Family Hubs, Holiday Activities and Food (HAF), Short Breaks for children with disabilities, Youth Justice support, and Family Help initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Commissioning Officer, you will:

  • Support Commissioning Managers in delivering planned commissioning activities across the full commissioning cycle.
  • Assist in developing service specifications, contracts, and monitoring arrangements.
  • Gather and analyse data to inform commissioning decisions and ensure services meet local needs.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and partners in health, education, and social care.
  • Help coordinate engagement with providers, stakeholders, and service users to ensure feedback shapes services.
  • Contribute to market development by supporting provider engagement and capacity-building initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports to support decision-making.

About You:

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience in administration, project support, or service delivery (commissioning experience across the whole cycle is desirable but not essential).
  • Is highly organised, with good attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Can communicate effectively and build positive working relationships.
  • Is confident using data and IT systems to support reporting and analysis.
  • Is committed to learning and developing within a commissioning environment.
