As a member of the Adult Social Care Commissioned Services Payments Team within Walsall Council, you will develop positive relationships with care providers across health and social care. This involves significant time spent communicating and negotiating with providers to ensure accurately validated payments are made in line with contract terms and service user individually commissioned support plans. Daily Duties

  • Deliver a responsive payment service, validating payments against care levels and commissioned budgets.
  • Act as the first point of contact for social care providers regarding service user payments.
  • Confirm payment schedules and investigate any irregularities, escalating issues where necessary.
  • Manage and resolve provider payment disputes using analytical and communication skills.
  • Apply and validate annual provider uplifts to unit costs of care.
  • Challenge and verify data accuracy when handling queries.
  • Collaborate with Social Care, Finance, Procurement, and Commissioning teams to ensure accurate and auditable payment processes.
  • Operate compliantly within contracted frameworks, policies, procedures and financial regulations.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and perform under pressure.
  • Proven experience in high-volume financial environments.
  • Skilled in analysing large volumes of transactional financial data.

  • Experience within Payments, Contracts, Commissioning, Banking and Finance background is essential.
