Overview
In Walsall we understand the need to invest in our Social Workers, and we have an opportunity for you to join the Local Authority as an ASYE Social Worker. We offer a specialist dedicated ASYE Programme with a practice framework based on motivational interviewing, trauma-informed practice and systemic social work practice. You will be supported as part of a small unit of 4β5 ASYE Social Workers with a dedicated Consultant Social Worker who will undertake weekly group supervision, co-work some families and provide regular guidance, mentoring and support.

Responsibilities
- Participate in the ASYE programme and engage with supervision, mentoring and guidance from the ASYE Consultant Social Worker and Team Manager.
- Undergo progression within the programme, with increasing allocation of families in complexity and volume as the year progresses.
- Work within the local authority practice framework and contribute to safeguarding and wellbeing of children and families.

- Retention payments of 10% of your annual salary after 2 years, paid monthly, increasing at 4 and 6 years of employment.

- Transition to join your team with support from your Team Manager, a Senior Practitioner and an ASYE Consultant Social Worker.
- Protected study time during your ASYE year and access to 1:1 and/or group clinical supervision with the Child Psychology Service if you wish further practice support.
- Commitment to reducing bureaucracy and paperwork and clear career progression toward roles such as Specialist Senior Social Worker after approximately 2.5 years post-qualification.
- Significant contribution towards your LGPS pension and refund of SWE registration fees.
Requirements and Safeguarding
- Completion of an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check is a requirement for working with children and young people. Applicants must declare any periods abroad and be prepared to provide an Overseas Criminal Records Certificate (OCRC) or a Statement of Good Conduct (SOGC) as appropriate.
- The post is covered by the Government\βs Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers.
