Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation, assembly, and supply of medicines for patients.
- Order, receive, store, and dispose of medicines and other pharmacy products.
- Deliver medicines to different wards or departments and handle associated administrative tasks.
- Receive and log prescriptions.
- Assemble prescribed items and perform accuracy checks.
- Issue dispensed medicines and other products to patients and healthcare professionals.
- Treat patients with dignity and respect to provide person‑centred care.
- Refer patients to a pharmacist when appropriate.

Pharmacy Technicians are vital members of today’s healthcare team and contribute greatly to the supply of medicines and all aspects of good practice for safe and secure handling of medicines, as well as advising patients on how to use their medicines. The new Urgent Emergency Care Centre opened in March 2023 provides almost 5,000 square metres of additional clinical space, enhancing emergency care capacity.
