Executive Leadership Opportunity
Walsall College is continuing to develop its leadership capacity as it delivers its strategic ambitions and builds on its existing strengths. As part of this next phase of development, the College is appointing three senior leaders to its Executive Leadership Team: a Vice Principal - Curriculum, an Assistant Principal - Business Growth & Partnerships and an Assistant Principal - Quality.
About the role
This is an opportunity to shape how the College develops its external relationships and responds to emerging skills and economic opportunities, creating sustainable growth and new opportunities for learners, employers and communities.
The Assistant Principal will provide strategic leadership in developing the College’s relationships with employers, partners and stakeholders and in identifying opportunities for sustainable growth, income diversification and curriculum innovation.
The role will lead the College’s approach to employer engagement, ensuring that intelligence from employers, industry, local and regional partners and the wider labour market informs curriculum development and the opportunities available to learners.
A key focus will be developing and securing new business and commercial opportunities, including external funding and bidding, strengthening market intelligence and supporting the development of new curriculum and delivery models. The role will also provide strategic leadership for partnerships across local, regional and wider networks, representing the College externally and ensuring that relationships create tangible opportunities for learners, employers and the College.
About you
You will bring:
- Substantial senior leadership experience in further education, education, skills or a comparable environment
- A strong track record of developing employer, business or strategic partnerships
- Commercial awareness and experience of identifying and securing growth or income opportunities
- The ability to translate labour market and stakeholder intelligence into practical opportunities
- Strong external influencing and relationship-building skills
- A clear commitment to learner success, inclusion and the College’s ICARE values
