About Walr: Walr is the data collection company built for the fast and the ambitious. Founded in 2020, we exist to elevate the role of market researchers by removing the day-to-day heavy lifting so teams can focus on what matters: insight and impact. We do this through unmatched speed, and a unique blend of human expertise, proprietary technology and global audience reach. Walr's success is driven by encouraging our people to think boldly, take ownership, and move fast together. We are now 160+ people across 4 continents and only just getting started. Join Walr to be part of this growth story and create an industry-defining market research company.

About the role: Walr is hiring a senior industry professional to lead the Data Consultancy team and build an industry leading data consultancy proposition in Europe. The role will be responsible for directly managing a team of ~6 Data Consultants, leading by example in how we serve clients, and evolving the proposition by improving our ways of working and feeding directly into the product team as they build our proprietary technology platform. The team as a whole is responsible for consulting with clients and coordinating cross-functional teams of survey programmers, sample-only project managers and data processors to deliver high quality data. This role is ideal for someone who has experience of the end-to-end data collection process within quantitative market research and has a desire to challenge themselves in a scale-up organization. The successful candidate will be a critical contributor to two of Walr’s key performance metrics: gross margin and client satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the European Data Consultancy team, whose job it is to deliver high-quality data to our clients, whilst working in a way that delights them.
  • Oversee delivery of all projects managed by the team, and be the point of escalation for especially complex or technical projects.
  • Manage and own select projects that are deemed critical from a client and commercial perspective. For these projects align internal teams and the client on survey design, sample plan, timelines and deliverables, and make suggestions for improvement throughout the process.
  • Raise quality and efficiency across all aspects of the team’s work. Look at existing operations with a critical eye, design and implement improved ways of working, and inspire the team to deliver an exceptional service every time.
  • Build client relationships by being the primary face and voice of the team from early-stage discussions alongside Commercial, through to delivery, issue resolution and ongoing relationship management.
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge of the Walr proposition and platform to give clients confidence, and contribute to the growth of key client accounts by delivering a high quality, professional service.
  • Ensure understanding and adoption within the team of new platform features developed by the Product & Innovation team.
  • Translate the needs of clients and the team into platform and feature improvements, and develop a close working relationship with the Product & Innovation team to get these on the roadmap and deployed.
  • Lead by example in all areas of the role, and support and coach other members of the team.

Required experience & skills

  • ~10+ years’ experience in the market research industry, with a strong track record in project management or consultancy-type roles.
  • Good knowledge of market research disciplines and experience of delivering bespoke quantitative research and data.
  • Proven ability to manage and lead a team of direct reports, together with the ability to soft influence teams and individuals that sit in other areas of the business.
  • Experience of leading and getting the best out of multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Excellent client management: professional, reliable, and able to act as a trusted partner and advisor. A clear and proactive communication style that builds client confidence.
  • Excellent timeline and priority management: comfortable evaluating competing priorities and making trade-offs.
  • Services mindset: a delivery professional who lives for engaging with clients daily and leading teams to deliver outcomes.
  • Attention to detail: naturally detail oriented and takes pride in delivering high quality, error-free deliverables to clients.
  • Welcomes a challenge: able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment where internal and external expectations are high.
  • Continuous learner: eager to learn and apply new technologies and frameworks.
  • Enjoys problem solving: leans into, rather than running away from, problems. Comfortable with independent issue resolution and root-cause analysis to prevent recurring issues.
  • Strong communication skills: Business level English comprehension and the ability to communicate clearly, in writing and orally, with any client, team member or key stakeholder regardless of technical background.

What We Value

  • We Delight through Dedication: We go the extra mile, stay focused, and fix what’s not working. Fast.
  • We Lead with Trust: We trust each other’s judgment and act with integrity. Always as partners.
  • We Revel in Innovation: We challenge the status quo and try new ways forward. Progress over perfection.
  • We Celebrate as a Team: We share wins, support each other, and believe we’re better as a collective.
  • We Are Empowered to Act Like Owners: We take responsibility, make bold calls, and think big-picture.

Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: We’re building a workplace that works for everyone.
