We have been retained by our client, a successful, Lancashire / Greater Manchester based manufacturing group, to appoint a commercially focused, Procurement Manager, who has previous expertise in international chemical purchasing.

They now require the skills of a Purchasing & Supply Chain Specialist (ideally CIPS Qualified) who has already achieved success operating at Senior Buyer / Procurement Manager level within a manufacturing organisation; knowledge of international chemical product purchasing & transportation is required.

Based on site at the Head Office, reporting to the Finance Director, the Procurement Manager will take responsibility for all strategic and day to day UK & international purchasing activity whilst also handling other complex issues such as system developments and continuous improvement projects.

Key responsibilities will include developing new international sourcing options, categorisation, supplier management, price and contract negotiations, product cost reductions, supporting sustainability, MRP, inventory management, data analysis, commercial reporting, project management and CI activity whilst effectively motivating, managing and coaching a small team.

They will need to be ‘hands on’ with the ability to handle administrative detail accurately, demonstrate a data driven approach and a focus on achieving operational goals.

An understanding of the challenges, processes and legal compliance requirements for moving chemical compounds internationally is needed.
