The predicted salary is between 8063 - 8200 £ per year.

Actual Annual Salary: £8,063 - £8,200 based on working hours and weeks. Full Time Equivalent Salary: £25,949 - £26,392 (CLF Grade Aii) based on 37 hours per week, all year round.

Contract: Fixed Term Contract until October 2027 or the return of the current postholder (maternity cover).

Hours: 13.75 per week (Monday - Friday 3:00pm – 5:45pm).

Provisional Start Date: 12th October 2026.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Playworker to join our after-school provision, supporting children through play, learning and enrichment activities at the end of the school day. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with young children, demonstrating strong leadership skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both children and parents. This role is essential in supporting children's development through play and structured activities within a primary setting.

Duties:

  • Support the day-to-day running of the after-school provision, ensuring a safe, stimulating and inclusive environment for all children.
  • Communicate effectively with children, encouraging their participation in play and learning activities.
  • Supervise children during playtime, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Plan and implement engaging activities that promote physical, social, and emotional development.
  • Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues to create a supportive community.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the play area, ensuring all equipment is safe and suitable for use.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to support the overall objectives of the after-school club.

About you:

  • Have an understanding of the varied needs of children and families.
  • Have an appropriate First Aid qualification or willingness to undertake training.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills, in particular demonstrates empathy and active listening.
  • Be able to deal with inappropriate behaviour in a calm and non-judgemental way, following academy guidance.
  • Be patient, calm and able to work under pressure.
