Although there is no typical day for a learning support assistant (LSA), the role will usually involve working within a classroom and on a 1:1 basis to support pupils with special educational needs (SEND), adapting activities, encouraging positive behaviour and helping to maintain a calm learning environment.

What we are looking for:

  • A proactive, energetic, and committed individual who can engage pupils and inspire confidence.
  • Calm, patient, and sensitive, with the ability to comfort children when needed.
  • A positive attitude and enthusiasm for creating a supportive learning environment.
  • Experience working with autistic children, social communication barriers, and complex needs is desirable but not essential.

Contract details:

  • Hours: 32.5 per week, Monday–Friday (8:30am–3:30pm with 30 minute lunch break), term time only
  • Contract: Fixed term until 31 August 2026 with the potential to be extended (dependent on funding)
  • Pay: £19,651.78 - £21,616.73 (E3 if unqualified, E4 if level 3 relevant qualification)
  • Start Date: 30 March 2026
