A well-established engineering manufacturer in County Tyrone is looking to add an R&D Engineer to its product development team. The business has built a strong reputation for quality and innovation, and this role gives you real ownership over how products evolve from first concept through to full production. You'll split your time between CAD-based design work and hands-on involvement in prototyping, testing and process improvement, working closely with production to make sure what's designed can actually be built efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Own the design and development of new and improved products, from CAD modelling through to full manufacturing drawings and specifications.
- Plan, build and test prototypes, including structural, durability and performance testing.
- Keep pace with materials, technologies and regulatory developments relevant to the sector, and use that insight to improve cost, weight and durability.
- Work alongside production to smooth the transition from design to manufacture, including tooling, fixtures and process improvements.
- Support compliance activity such as type approval where relevant.
Criteria
- Engineering degree or equivalent, with 4+ years in a fabrication/manufacturing environment and at least 2 years in an R&D-focused role.
- Strong CAD skills (sheet metal design experience an advantage).
- Comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, with solid IT skills including PLM/MRP systems.
- A methodical, analytical problem-solver who works well cross-functionally.
Reward
