A global science-based manufacturing organisation is seeking a Head of Engineering to lead the engineering function at a high-compliance production facility in Munster. This is a key leadership role with responsibility for capital strategy, engineering performance, utilities and asset care, people development and site investment planning. The site operates in a regulated, high-care manufacturing environment with significant automation, powder-processing technologies and strict quality standards. The successful candidate will join the Site Leadership Team and will play a central role in shaping the future capability and performance of the facility, including supporting the introduction of new process technologies.
THE ROLE
- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team (process, projects and maintenance disciplines)
- Own the site engineering strategy, capital plan and annual engineering budgets
- Oversee maintenance, utilities, reliability and asset management to ensure safe and efficient production
- Sponsor and deliver capital and improvement projects, from scope definition through commissioning
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, EHS and quality requirements
- Drive continuous improvement using data, problem-solving methodology and Lean / CI tools
- Develop engineering capability, coaching and supporting team growth
- Act as the senior engineering voice within the Site Leadership Team, working cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain and EHS
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Process or similar)
- 10 years' experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (FMCG, pharma, biotech, food, medical devices or specialised nutrition)
- Strong track record in team leadership and developing engineering capability
- Experience managing capital projects and/or delivering new process capability
- Strong understanding of reliability, asset care and engineering best practice
- Proven ability to influence, prioritise and communicate at senior levels
- Passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence
Desirable (not essential):
- Exposure to spray-drying, hygienic processing or powder handling technologies
- Six Sigma / CI experience
- Experience introducing new process technologies into a live manufacturing environment
