R&D Engineer Permanent | County Tyrone | £38,000 £44,000 A well-established engineering manufacturer in County Tyrone is looking to add an R&D Engineer to its product development team. The business has built a strong reputation for quality and innovation, and this role gives you real ownership over how products evolve from first concept through to full production. You'll split your time between CAD-based design work and hands-on involvement in prototyping, testing and process improvement, working closely with production to make sure what's designed can actually be built efficiently. Responsibilities Own the design and development of new and improved products, from CAD modelling through to full manufacturing drawings and specifications Plan, build and test prototypes, including structural, durability and performance testing Keep pace with materials, technologies and regulatory developments relevant to the sector, and use that insight to improve cost, weight and durability Work alongside production to smooth the transition from design to manufacture, including tooling, fixtures and process improvements Support compliance activity such as type approval where relevant Criteria Engineering degree or equivalent, with 4+ years in a fabrication/manufacturing environment and at least 2 years in an R&D-focused role Strong CAD skills (sheet metal design experience an advantage) Comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, with solid IT skills including PLM/MRP systems A methodical, analytical problem-solver who works well cross-functionally Reward £38,000£44,000 plus a role with genuine influence over product direction.
