Overview Our client is a well-established manufacturer of heavy-duty industrial machinery to the recycling and waste processing sector. Known for engineering excellence, quality and innovation in a demanding, fast-moving industry. An opportunity has arisen for a Design Engineer to join a close-knit engineering function, working on the design and ongoing development of heavy-duty machinery. Responsibilities Develop mechanical components and assemblies for industrial-scale equipment using 3D CAD software Turn concepts into detailed manufacturing drawings and models that meet relevant safety and quality standards Work closely with production, procurement and project colleagues to shape practical, cost-effective designs Support new products from initial concept right through to full-scale manufacture Take part in design reviews and risk assessments to validate new and revised designs Keep engineering documentation accurate and manage design changes through their lifecycle Help drive ongoing improvement across design and manufacturing processes Criteria A relevant engineering qualification (degree, HND, HNC, or served apprenticeship) Around two years' experience in a design engineering role, ideally within heavy machinery or industrial equipment Confident using 3D CAD packages such as SolidWorks or Inventor Solid grasp of manufacturing methods, materials and fabrication techniques Comfortable reading and producing detailed technical drawings A methodical, problem-solving mindset and strong team communication skills Exposure to hydraulic or heavy-duty drive systems, or a regulated manufacturing setting, would be an advantage Reward This role offers a competitive salary along with genuine exposure to global projects and industry-leading equipment.
