An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ARB-registered, recently qualified Architect to join a growing architectural design team within a contractor led environment, with a strong and active pipeline of healthcare projects. This is an opportunity to broaden your delivery experience, gain regular site exposure, and work directly with clients, consultants and construction teams on live, technically demanding schemes; with real scope to take ownership of workstreams and progress with a good degree of independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate architectural projects, or defined project packages, from design development through technical delivery and construction, appropriate to experience
- Develop high-quality design and technical information in Revit and AutoCAD, maintaining accuracy, coordination and consistency across the project information set
- Apply healthcare design experience to planning, clinical functionality, patient and staff environments, technical coordination and compliance, with working familiarity of relevant HBNs and HTMs
- Coordinate multidisciplinary consultant information, proactively identifying and resolving design and technical issues
- Attend and contribute to client, design-team and site meetings, communicating actions clearly and following them through to completion
- Work closely with contractor and site teams to understand buildability, sequencing and construction methodology, using regular site visits to build in-depth construction knowledge
- Prepare presentations, reports, design reviews and client-facing material using Adobe Creative Suite and other relevant tools
- Manage day-to-day project priorities, programme commitments and deliverables, escalating risks or key decisions when required
- Support project quality, document control and internal review processes, ensuring information is issued to the required standard
- Work collaboratively with senior architects, assistants and wider project teams while progressing tasks independently
What We're Looking For
- ARB registered Architect, recently qualified in the UK
- Previous architectural experience on healthcare projects; NHS or comparable clinical experience highly desirable, together with familiarity of relevant HBN and HTM standards
- Proficient in Autodesk Revit, with the ability to produce and coordinate project information confidently
- Proficient in Autodesk AutoCAD
- Competent in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
- Capable of working independently, taking ownership of deliverables and running projects or substantial project packages
- Good understanding of UK architectural project delivery, technical detailing and consultant coordination
- Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to liaise directly with clients, consultants and contractors
- Ability to balance design quality, technical requirements, programme and budget considerations
- Experience working across multiple RIBA Work Stages, particularly Stages 3-5
- Good working knowledge of healthcare guidance and standards, including the ability to interpret and apply relevant HBN and HTM requirements
- Experience of live hospital environments, refurbishment, phased works or technically complex healthcare projects
- Experience supporting contract administration, site inspections and responding to construction-stage queries
- Experience working within, or closely alongside, a contractor-led design environment, with confidence in a client-facing role
