Are you an experienced Electrical Design Engineer with a solid background in the design of wiring harnesses? We are a leading OEM of capital equipment in Bedford, part of a global multi-billion turnover group with a client base spanning over 50 countries. You’ll take ownership for our new product development, re-engineer existing machinery and manage our product obsolescence for a variety of electrical equipment and systems within the aviation industry. JOB DESCRIPTION: Electrical Design Engineer – Aviation, Vehicle Electrics, Wire Harnessing, Battery, Power Conversion We’re seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer, to join a strong experienced multi-disciplinary R&D team of 15+ Engineers covering mechanical, power electronics, embedded software / systems and project management. We cover it all. Being part of a global multi-billion turnover multi-site group, we can offer you excellent training and support and career progression with us or the wider group. Our electrical design software is called SEE Electrical and we have a simple PLM system that allows us to store and share files across our wider groups engineering team. Initially, you’ll be involved in mostly re-engineering and after-sales customer support, but the role will evolve organically into a stronger bias towards New Product Development (NPD). Whilst offering an interesting, innovative and challenging role, you’ll be tested on simple electrical designs through to complex battery management systems and power conversion. Our products have a direct impact in making the Aviation industry greener. YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Electrical Design Engineer – Aviation, Vehicle Electrics, Wire Harnessing, Battery, Power Conversion · Create detailed electrical schematics and compile and maintain strong wiring harness design drawings that are cost effective and allow ease of assembly · Help to recommend reliable connectors for the diverse environments our products can be exposed to · Be an integral part of our engineering team, taking the lead on anything electrical · Collaborate with the Firmware eEngineer and PCB Designers to ensure effective and reliable CAN communication with our products and systems YOUR BACKGROUND: Electrical Design Engineer, Aviation, Vehicle Electrics, Wire Harnessing, Battery, Power Conversion · You will have practical electrical design experience and be comfortable producing electrical schematics – ideally including electrical wire harnesses · You will be okay being largely site based in Bedford 5 days a week, collaborating within our multi-disciplinary design team · You will have experience of the industrial design of machinery, systems, equipment or something else relevant · If you are familiar with vehicle electrics or the Aviation industry, that would be advantageous, but not essential COMPANY: As a business we are over 30 years old, part of a global multi-billion turnover group and supply to over 50 countries. We have over 80 employees in the UK and design and develop a range of power units including portable pumps, DC battery units and associated power units.
