JOB DESCRIPTION: Business Development Manager, Strategic National Account Manager – Industrial Consumables, Components and Equipment Supply Chain Solutions
An expansion role, part of a visible and growing function in my client which will play a major part in my client winning high value industrial consumables, components and equipment supply chain solutions to manufacturing and construction markets.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Working closely with my client’s team of New Business Development and Key Account Managers supporting them in their efforts to win high value business dealing at senior management and board level, COO, CFO, MD, at customers including senior purchasing / procurement, logistics also production, commercial legal and technical / engineering.
- Initially performing a “discover and uncover” / deep dive exercise with customers and getting an ongoing understanding of their operational and efficiency challenges they face with a view to winning a full supply chain solution involving everything from kitting, vending, KANBAN, JIT supply through to cutting edge asset management technology.
- A multi stage / meeting sales process in which you will be tasked with asking the right and extra questions and gaining the credibility to open up senior level decision makers at potential customers.
- There will also be an element of winning hearts and minds on the shop floor where you also need to be credible.
- Ultimately the New Business Development Manager has the target to hit and the responsibility to turn all this into a “win”, but with your support along the way. There will still be a team target to hit.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
- Experience of, and success in, a similar senior business development, account management or sales role with a very good knowledge of industrial or technical components, consumables and equipment and associated supply chain, logistics, operational or technological solutions.
- The ability to converse, deal and present at board level to ask the right questions and talk credibly about potential customers’ operational and commercial aims, issues and pain points with a view to addressing them with a solution.
- Very good rapport, relationship building and presentation skills.
THE COMPANY:
Established over 50 years, my client is a $23bn annual turnover corporation with over 15,000 personnel operating worldwide, with a £3bn+ turnover and 1,800 personnel in Europe. They have 650 personnel in the UK with a large and structured sales function of 230. In 2020, they were acquired by an even bigger corporation as a strategic move into the UK and European markets which has significantly enhanced their offering and presence in the market. This role is part of a major expansion with full and committed support from the group.
PROSPECTS:
Excellent prospects in a large successful and expanding company and group. There are definite succession plans for the right people joining at this time particularly in this function of the company which will be expanding quickly over the next couple of years both in the UK and EMEA and where there is a succession plan.
This role will be a particularly good springboard to progression throughout the group as it will involve exposure to a wide variety of other departments, divisions and contacts internally.
