We are an international, well established engineering company enjoying strong growth, and as a result we are seeking a Senior Design Engineer, based in Darlington. With a hybrid work pattern considered, you’ll be working on conceptual and detailed design of large-scale structures with projects in a range of industries including bridges, dams, refineries, power stations, offshore structures, and manufacturing plants. COMMUTABLE LOCATIONS: Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Newcastle, Durham, Hartlepool, Stockton on Tees, Bishop Auckland JOB DESCRIPTION: Senior Design Engineer – Large Scale Structures Reporting to our Principal Engineer, and working within a team of 7, your role will include: · Conceptual and detailed designing of permanent and temporary structures, particularly in steel. · Designing and specification of specialist equipment, particularly related to heavy lifting and moving projects. · Preparation of method statements · Preparation of sketches and drawings using AutoCad (or similar software) and / or by hand. · Preparation of detailed calculations, preferably using Excel. PERSON SPECIFICATION: Senior Design Engineer – Large Scale Structures You’re a passionate Design Engineer that works well as part of a team, and you lead by example with your work ethic. You’re innovative, dynamic and will have a positive influence on our already established team. As our Design Engineer, you will: · Be working towards or have achieved chartered status within your field. · Have experience working on or leading the design of heavy lifting or moving projects. · Possess good working knowledge of Eurocodes, particularly EN 1993. · Be comfortable using CAD software (AutoCad, Inventor)) and finite element analysis computer programmes (STAADPro, Lusas). · Have demonstrable experience of designing specialist equipment particularly related to heavy lifting and moving projects.
