Overview Of Role

Office: London (hybrid requirement; 2 days in the office required)

The Innovation Delivery Lead (Senior Manager level) is a pivotal role within the technology leadership team. The Innovation Delivery Lead will lead the agile delivery function, ensuring high-impact innovation projects and iterative updates to existing applications and integrations are executed efficiently and effectively across the organisation. The role is responsible for leading, coaching and inspiring agile teams, and for overseeing SAFe and Kanban ceremonies to embed best practice across the delivery lifecycle. The Innovation Delivery Lead provides line management, guidance and support to Scrum Masters and Product Owners, creating a cohesive and well-supported agile delivery structure.

Duties, Responsibilities & Person Specification

  • Lead and manage the firm's agile delivery function, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration and innovation.
  • Oversee the planning and facilitation of SAFe ceremonies and be familiar with operating with Kanban, ensuring alignment with Walkers strategic priorities and agile best practice.
  • Be familiar with adoption and overseeing adoption of Scrum ceremonies as Walkers will review which approach is better aligned as part of its strategic planning exercises.
  • Work closely with the CTO, Global Head of Architecture and Global Engineering Manager along with other senior stakeholders across IT and the business to set strategic priorities, manage delivery pipelines, work with Product Owners to prioritise backlogs and drive the successful execution of innovation initiatives.
  • Coach and mentor delivery squads, supporting their professional growth and ensuring high levels of engagement and performance.
  • Monitor progress, identify and remove impediments, and ensure transparent communication across all levels of the organisation.
  • Ensure IT processes are adhered to, such as ARB, CAB and Service Transition.
  • Work with resource managers, especially for skills ancillary to squads to schedule resource time.
  • Champion agile methodologies and adapt approaches to suit the needs of different projects and teams.
  • Establish and track key delivery metrics to measure success and inform continuous improvement efforts and track against appropriate budgeting.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to Scrum Masters and Product Owners, ensuring their work aligns with organisational goals and agile principles.
  • Facilitate and create an environment to support hackathons.

Education, Skills & Experience

  • Relevant agile certifications (e.g., Agile Certified Practitioner, SAFe Agilist, Certified SCRUM Master, KANBAN Management Professional) are highly desirable.
  • Extensive experience leading agile delivery teams within a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Expertise in facilitating and overseeing SAFe, Scrum and Kanban ceremonies, with a proven track record of delivering high-value projects.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate cross‑functional teams.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influencing abilities.
  • Strategic thinker with a hands‑on approach and a passion for driving innovation.
  • Experience managing Scrum Masters and Product Owners is a strong asset.
  • Relevant experience in a similar role running an Agile Practice.
  • Dynamic, empathetic, agile product leadership.
  • A solid foundation in business analysis, process improvement, and software development.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Decisive and confident in one’s own ability and recommendations.
  • Strong written, oral and presentation communication skills and astute stakeholder engagement.
